wednesday week
if i weren't so goddam tired all the time, i'd write in this more. i'd still have nothing to say, but the frequency at which i didn't see would be much higher.
Monday was ridiculous, i was at work happily working, when tony called me up saying he and a buddy were going to porter belly's for a guinness before the big night and that i should come. Hey, a quick beer after work, no problem.
I went there, had some rounds, and then some more, then grabbed some pizza and tried to go to green briar so i could see the finbar doyle experience, but there was a $20 cover, so we went back to porter belly's, stayed a bit, grabbed some forties at the liquor store, back to 14 lake, then to espresso royale for some after closing fun. i was all set to go to bed at 11, granted i was drunk, but hey, it was still 11. then adam and his friends made me do some shots on "my way out" which turned into "going to espresso royale for god knows how long then back to 14 lake for some more and then going into work the next morning and getting two powerades first thing." but it was a fun night.
poker on tuesday i only lost $20.
was supposed to go out last night, but was so tired my soul hurt, and besides, there was good tv on. katie and i, from seperate rooms, watched the first episode ever of dawson's creek which was just goddam awful, but it was fun because we were screaming across the hall to each other about how much it sucked. then we did the same for the war coverage.
i dunno, i think it's pretty badass we're at war. sure there'll be some casualties, but really, most of them will be freaking friendly fire, and if our soldiers can't learn to not shoot themselves, well then hey, that's their own problem. gulf war one was a joke, this will be a joke too. but, it should be better. seriously though, wtf am i going to talk to my grandchildren about? all war talk aside, my generation needs SOMETHING big to talk about. the wtc attack was surely a huge event, but it was just that, an event that happened and then we quickly moved on. the gulf war is trivial and almost forgotten, and aside from the protesters who closed down boylston street today, this war is already nothing more than a media event. I think history as my generation learned it is over. Perhaps it's just that i can't get the scope of what's been going on because i'm living through it, but the past is full of good story arcs. my generation is nothing but some forgettable presidents, the clinton scandal, a couple "wars," the simpson trial, a giant fucking plane crash, and reality tv. I think the political world has just become too subtle and complex to fill a chapter of a 5th grade text book.
ok enough of that. i heart buffy. i also need to make a power hour cd for me katie and mike because for some reason katie and mike decided they wanted to drink during the weekend i wanted to sit around and soberly play video games. sigh.
