wankers, poofs and bints

uh oh. i just mixed up the cosby show with a real-life memory. It was the episode where rudy finds a dog, they place an ad, and the owners come to pick it up and bring a bushel of apples from the orchard they live on. So i'm watching this and thing "weird, this is just like that time that we found or watched a dog and then the owners came to pick it back up and brough a bushel of apples." except that never happened. yikes.

I've apparently developed hardcore allergies as I have been sneezing and dripping all day without any of the other feelings that usually accompany a cold. Not a fan of this, i hope it goes away, like, overnight.

SO last time i wrote here it was right before my big foray into cooking. I did that on tuesday, made the scallops with prosciutto, asparagus and rice. aside from the asparagus being crispier than katie or i would have liked, i will say that the whole event went swimmingly. Sure it was like an hour and half of prep, cooking and cleanup for a 10 minute meal, but it was very satisfying and I enjoyed the franticness of all three dishes being prepared at the same time. Perhaps i will cook something this week.

Thursday was my birthday, and aside from my family, and some random person who i guess read or has read this site, no one remembered. i was like molly ringwald in sixteen candles but really not at all. I guess i was sort of asking for people to forget because umm, i didn't mention it at all (i didn't remember myself until maybe a week beforehand). And its not like i remember birthdays at all, but all it takes is for one person to be on the ball and tell other people and that didn't happen. I eventually told katie as she was leaving for dinner with adam which then turned into an ad hoc birthday dinner at sunset cantina. that was nice, mike was there too and then we went to city sides for a couple of beers and then i went off to the avenue and met tony and co. for tequila shots and golden tee. I hesitate to say worst birthday ever, because really, i ended up going out and i have a summer birthday which always sucks, but still, worst. birthday. ever. and aside from a box from mom, no presents. lame.

Friday was the fourth of july, which is the day of the year my friends think it's an awesome idea to go out and torture themselves for 9 hours to see the fireworks. Now, i love the fireworks, they're really great. but it's hardly worth a day out in unbearable heat. I'd much rather be home watching tv or something on the day off. But it's not like i have a say in the matter so to the esplanade i went. Not as hot as last year but still pretty hot when the clouds went and hid. We got a nicer spot than last year and also had a lot more real estate. Lori even brough a tent. We're really moving up the ladder of fourth of july setup. I took my traditional break to the air conditioned movie theater and saw terminator 3, which was just absolute shit. about as dumb as an action movie can possibly get, full of embarrassing humor that was essentially mocking T2. The terminatrix was a poor man's T-1000 in red leather, and all the action scenes were seriously just copies of T2 scenes but not done as well. I was conflicted. On one hand, i was pissed at the movie for ruining a decent franchise, but on the other hand, i was in air conditioning for a few hours. i'll call it a draw.

Got back just in time for the start of the show, which took FOREVER because i guess it was broadcast nationally on CBS or something which required a commercial break every 5-10 minutes. Seriously, no fireworks until like 10:30-11, which i think is a good hour, hour and a half later than before. super lame. however, the fireworks freaking ruled.

Saturday i just chilled out. We caught 28 days later that night, it wasn't spectacular, but i liked it.
then today there was sadly no mcdonalds because katie wanted to enjoy the nice weather or some garbage like that. we watched buffy a little later, and then blah blah blha sneeze drip sneeze.

at ten pm i starting importing more old entries in because i noticed july of 2002 had somehow been passed over. I swear, i did July-October 2001 and it took an hour. i was uhh a bit more prolific back then.

gotta call about a job tomorrow. applied to one or two tonight and there's the one that's phone only, odldy enough. also oddly enough, they're all property management companies. what am i thinking? oh, right. I'm thinking that it doesn't matter where i apply to because half these jobs are just for farming resumes and the other half won't call me back anyway. man it sucks.

achoo. blaaaaah.
